Ancestry “Greatness Comes from Everywhere”
The winter games are a time in which US athletes become “American heroes”; their victories symbols of American greatness. But today, “making America great again” feels more about exclusion than celebration.
We realized that Ancestry could provide a powerful argument against this idea of what is ‘American’.
We tested the DNA of several American Olympic heroes from the 1980 Men’s Hockey Team, whose unlikely victory is widely considered one of the greatest in US sports history, and discovered some of America’s greatest athletes — like America’s greatness itself — come from immigrants from all over the world.
I could not have said this better myself so the original copy is borrowed from my friend and fellow strategist, Tom Gibby.
